Basics are Essential: Part One
Do you ever find yourself standing in front of your closet trying to figure out what to wear? Yeah that's me too. Although my closet may seem rather monochromatic, I've begun to learn the art of basics. Basics are so essential. Don't underestimate your basics pieces, instead make them your closet staple pieces. If you invest in good key basic pieces, the possibilities for outfits are endless. I want to share with you how I style some of my go-to basics. Hopefully this will inspire you to look at your closet in a new light or it may even help you clean out your closet. My advice is to invest in key basic pieces that you can use multiple times and play around with those pieces, add a killer leather jacket, cardigan, a hat, or a statement necklace. Embrace your everyday basics and monochromatic colors.
My first outfit consists of a black long t-shirt that has slits on the side. I love this top because it's a simple black t-shirt, but the side slits add a little extra to a rather all black ensemble. Pair a plain top (can be black, white, etc.) with leather leggings. I literally live in leggings, and I love these leather ones because they dress up an outfit and add some dimension to an all black outfit. For shoes I choose some black leather flats (closet staple). Pointy-toe is so on trend right now, and you can do so much with a good pair of flats. Topping off the ensemble, I added a brown hat to break up the black.
This outfit is a go-to of mine, because you can always switch it up. You can change the shirt, wear booties instead, and change up the statement piece.
