Basics are Essentials: Part Two
This is the second part to my "Basics are Essentials" segment. You can find the first part here. I have been sharing how I style my go-to basics. You can never go wrong with basic colors and staple pieces in your closet. Remember invest in key pieces that you can mix and match and use over and over again in various ways.
This outfit is the basic jeans and t-shirt. I normally don't wear jeans, but I am loving the distressed denim look. So naturally I ventured out and bought a pair. These jeans aren't just ordinary jeans, they're extraordinary because they are cropped jeggings. They end right above the ankle, which is perfection for short gals like me. The struggle of finding jeans that you don't have to roll up is real. These are so heavenly! Everyone has their go-to jeans, so find those and you'll be half way there. The top that I paired with these jeans is my all time favorite oversized sweater. I'm obsessed with the fit of this shirt so much that I have it in three colors! (ding ding ding! Staple piece) You can use any t-shirt, oversized sweater or flowy top. I loved the lightness of these jeans so I wanted to play it up with the lightness of the top. To keep the whole look neutral I wore my taupe Sam Edelman booties (yes, I have these in two colors, but I wear them non-stop). Basic pieces are revolutionary if you learn how to use them efficiently. You can layer them and mix and match them. There is so much that you can do with a basic outfit like this. Make it your own, show off your style.
I once heard that you shouldn't buy the same thing in two colors. Well my advice would be, if you feel confident in it and you see yourself using it in a lot of outfits, go for it! I personally lean towards plain colors: nudes, black, grey, whites, blush, etc. and I stray from bold patterns. I rather reuse something and make it my own, then to limit myself to a one time outfit. Stay tune for part three of this segment!
